I turned the big 3-0 this past weekend, and for my birthday treat, my husband ordered a dozen fancy donuts. You guys, I love a good donut. I even kind of love a bad donut. Needless to say, even though the doorbell rang at 7:45AM on a Saturday, I was very happy.
He ordered from Donut Snob, a delivery-only LA donut shop that I heard about from somewhere on the internet. They claim to make the best donuts in the world, which I do not take lightly– I’ve had some amazing donuts, Dough and Doughnut Plant come to mind.
If nothing else, they are beautiful donuts. I happen to love fresh fruit and berries, so putting them on top of a donut makes me happy. The best ones were the fresh raspberry and lemon (tart, not too sweet, yummy berries) and dark chocolate raspberry (pictured). Also in the box were lemon, s’mores, berry with cinnamon, orange pistachio, and peanut butter. They were all very good–none were too sweet, and the flavors were strong but natural. I’m actually not sure the donut itself is the best I’ve had–Dough’s yeast donuts are pretty life changing–but they were a solid base for the loveliness on top.
All of this being said, they are pricey, especially for donuts. They’re a great option if you need to send a group of people at an office a gift and have the budget.
