Our neighbor Kari has some cool plants. She was smart enough to see gardeners working on a house down the street and ask for some cactus clippings. One of the gardeners proclaimed “they grow like crazy,” but I was starting to think he was just bitter about his job, since they haven’t grown much at all. Starting a week ago, though, the lonely cactus on the back porch started to sprout a bloom. It grew at least an inch every day, to the point where it was comical looking. This cactus clearly still thinks he is a big cactus. Last night it bloomed, and it was really lovely. Bloom on, little cactus.
